K-State Homecoming/ADPI Reunion Weekend

My best friend was in town two weekends ago.  I think we crammed as many events into one weekend as humanly possibly, but it was A BLAST!  Now I just need her to move back....

Surprise Bday party on Friday evening after we picked them up at the airport.  (Her mom had no clue, best surprise I've seen in a while!)

K-State Homecoming Game on Saturday...which we won AGAIN!  Still undefeated!!!  I love my Wildcats!  Plus, it was our ADPI Reunion weekend.  Who knew...tailgates and babies instead of tailgates and too much beer!  It was great to catch up with everyone!
T
The K-State band played right next to our tailgate!  GOO CATS!

Adding little ADPI's one by one!

And Sunday was the Chiefs vs. Raider's game.  The Chiefs suck, but we still love to support our local team.  And we had a great time anyway!

On top of all of the vents, Brian and I had family staying at our house and we got to baby sit our niece and nephew Saturday evening after the football games while Brian's brother and wife attended a wedding.  I was asleep about 10 minutes after the kids went to sleep.  Exhausted!
They are great kids!  I'm one lucky aunt!!
Yes, it was jam packed, but totally worth it!

Making Progress

Thank you to my dad, Kim and my sister for coming over today and helping us clean out our front garden.

{And there is a ton more work to do, but 2 hours today was very helpful and productive.}

Brian and I neglected our yard all summer and we are kinda paying for it now, but hey...new jobs, getting married, and painting the horrible colors in our house took priority.

The goal before winter comes is to clean out the garden beds, take care of the weeds, trim down the bushes and see what comes back in the Spring.  Then, we'll start purchasing new plants, and making our yard look much prettier than it is.

Here are some pictures of what it looked like at the beginning of the day.

Horrible looking plants before we ripped them out

Another angle of the ugly plants

I don't even know what to say -- its a mess!

Cleaned up and chopped down

We ripped the dead plants out = NOT FUN!

Beautiful trimmed tree...you can walk under it now!
I feel so productive today!  More to come next spring when we plant new shrubs!

I love Fall!

It is that wonderful time of year where the trees begin to change colors, football is always on the TV in our house, the air conditioning has been turned off and windows open (if my allergies aren't horrible).

I have also used Pinterest as an inspiration source for some fall decorating ideas around the house and on our front porch.  (please don't mind the horrible bushes, that is a project we need to begin soon).

Here are a few shots of our fall decorating items around our household.

Kstate v. KU Game

Brian and I had our own personal tailgate...and by no means was it a healthy one...just some of our favorite tailgate items.

And surprisingly we were both nice to each other during the game.

In case you were not aware, Brian went to KU and is a HUGE Jayhawk fan.

I went to K-State and am a HUGE wildcat fat.

We are both competitive when it comes to our football and sports teams, but we were nice to each other this Saturday afternoon.

I love my husband.  Even if he is a KU fan.

And I love our child...who could care less about Kstate or KU...she just loves her Christmas binky and nap time!

Kitchen Update

Brian and I have done A TON of painting over the past few months.

Our kitchen is pretty much done!  Woohoo!!  We can count one room off on our list of painting and making it ours.

Overall, there was not a lot of hard demo-type work that had to be done, but painting and hanging pictures that fit Brian and I was on the top of the list.

I still have to add some nick knacks above the cabinets, but so far I haven't found anything that I like enough to put up there to fill the space.  Brian doesn't think anything needs to go above the cabinet...so we are trying to find the right balance.

Anyhoo...Here are a few pics of before:

I GOT MY COMPUTER BACK!!!!

I got my computer back!  Thank you Geek Squad at Best Buy!!!

He was able to restore my computer, put all of my pictures on DVD's and upload them back onto my computer!  I forever owe him my life!

Well, maybe not my life, but my pictures are my life and I can't tell you how devastated I would be if I lost them.

So...tonight I'm uploading them all to PhotoBucket so I never have to worry about where they are or if they get lost, etc.

Ahh, life is good again and I can begin uploading pics and blogging again about my boring little life that I love oh so much!

More pics on the house, wedding, honeymoon to come!

I'm back!!

iPAD vs. Laptop

Well...I came to the conclusion last night that I much rather have a laptop over an iPAD.

GASP!

I know, I know not everyone would say that.  It might be my inexperience with Apple products, but I am having such a hard time figuring out how to upload pictures to this blog (hence no posts recently), or to Facebook.  There is no CD Drive for our engagement pictures to be viewed and you have to buy extra pieces of "equipment" for all "normal" functions of a regular old PC.

So...this weekend we are going back to Nebraska Furniture Mart to exchange our new iPAD for a new laptop so I can feel happy again.

If you are reading this and have any quick advice in the next few days on what I may be doing wrong -- please please email me at sarah.dorward@gmail.com!  I will take all the help I can get!

Or might even be persuaded if I could just figure it out!

Posts of our house transformations to come soon!  (I promise!)
