Ooopsie!!

WEEELLLLLL......

I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and got some new curtains and a curtain rod to hang curtains in our extra bedroom.  The room just needed a little something extra.

...the screw stripped and I may have put a hole in our wall....did I mention we are renters!  I kinda started to freak out!

After crying and some screaming at this stupid screw I went to Ace Hardware and asked for some help.  They gave me this neat little "screw" type of thing (yes very technical words I know) but it is supposed to input grooves back into the screw to help remove from the wall.

THAT DIDN'T WORK!

I cried and cussed some more because with all of my might I could not pull it out of the wall.  And Brian wasn't home so I was trying to do all of this without him.  "I'm a woman and women can do anything"  Famous words from my mother!

So when he came home from the KU game we went upstairs and he helped me pull the screw out of the wall, patch the hole with some plaster and hang the curtain slightly higher to cover up the hole and we are really going to fix it later.

Here are a few pics of our new curtains!  ( I also have another project in the works - very simple, but I'm not that handy as you can probably tell from this post)

And here is a sneak peak at my new project - hopefully I can finish in the next week or so.

I love fall!!!

I love this time of year.  It is my 2nd favorite season.

Summer of course being my first.

But I do love decorating the house with leaves and acorns, pumpkins and little ghosts!  Not sure if Brian is all too keen on the decorations around the house, but I like them!

These little guy look cute next to the sink.

Little pumpkin hanging on the closet door

I bought these pumpkins to sit on the buffet in the dining room

And these little pumpkins are on the shelf in the living room

HOT-Lanta

Atlanta definitely won this weekend!

Georgia Tech beat KU...BUT we had fun in the sun anyway!

This picture needs a little explanation - the college boys dress very differently than the college boys in the Midwest, I just thought it was funny!

Atlanta beat the EAGLES.....BUT we were able to sit in box seats thanks to Eric's company!!

In the end, we had a blast!  Brian and I needed a little get-away and traveling to see my BESTIE (check out her blog too) was the perfect option.  We ate a ton of food, had a lot of girl talk and probably drank more wine than needed.  But it's just what this girl needed!

1 mile!!!

I am back to running....

Today I only made it a mile before I thought my calves were going to break in half.

I don't understand - I used to be able to run 6-8 miles, be completely exhausted but feel great during the run.

Oh wait - I haven't done that in 2 years!  I blame Brian because he's not an avid exerciser like I used to be.

Well... our wedding is in 10 months...so I'm kickin' it into high gear!!

Last night I did Jillian Michaels "30 Day Shred".

It felt great to work out again.  I just forget how hard it is to get back into a routine when you've been out of one for the past 6 months or so.  So tonight I made myself go out and run, even if it was only a mile, it is more than sitting on the couch watching the first official NFL Game.

This is what I'll be doing a lot over the next 10 months or so!  I will definitely keep you posted on my progress!  (I only wish we had a beach close to KC)

Salsa Anyone??

This weekend at the lake Brian and I were introduced to an AWESOME homemade salsa recipe.  Super easy and DELICIOUS!  Stacy made some for us and we loved it.

We decided to make some at home when we got back into town.  You can make it as spicy or as mild as you like.  We chose the mild route!

1 large can tomatoes
Handful of cilantro
1 Jalapeno (with or without seeds...we went no seeds, just don't touch your eye afterwards like Brian did...not pleasant)
Garlic Powder
Oregano
Salt & Pepper
1/2 of an onion

You can also double the recipe like we did and freeze half of the batch!

Lake Day!!

Brian and I just got back from a day away at the lake with his brother Aaron, his wife Stacy and their two kids Drew & Alli.  We had a ball!!

We rode on the wave runner...even though it was only about 75 degrees out...could have been a little warmer if you ask me!  We also watched the kids jump off the dock, make s'mores and had a tickle fight this morning!  We had a blast and I cannot wait to be a part of the Alexander clan soon!

Here are my soon to be niece and nephew swimming in the lake!  They are soo stinkin' cute!!

It didn't matter they were freezing and shaking - they were still going to swim!!

This little man thought he would save the jet ski...what a little fish he was in the water!!!
